They point you in the direction of a bus station- of course not the correct one so you need to bus it across town which thankfully isn't too big. After about 30 minutes you arrive to be ushered onto a bus to Guilin. The express bus service is not running at this time of year so it's a good two and a half hours back- a far cry from the hour they advise on the tour. ...

      ... driver had the choice of being crushed by the lorry In front of it or being hit by our bus coming towards it. I think probably he made the right choice. Anyway we arrived safely and after the usual freshen up we headed into this very touristy town which has more westerners in it than any other we have been in so far.       ... my ticket but it wasn't leaving for a few hours, so I wandered around the street. Some weird touchy feely Chinese guy started following me and creeping me out, trying to hold my hand and touch my shoulder, so I started just yelling DONT YOU ******* CHINESE ******* at him and eventually he went away. I don't know if anyone noticed in the street or not. It was quite a strange scene.

      We checked out of our hotel and had a delicious noodle dish for breakfast, at a local restaurant. After breakfast we decided to walk back to West Street. This time it was not nearly as crowded as the night before, so Joan and Annie did some shopping. Joan and I each bought some T-Shirts that had very funny sayings on them. Joan was really proud of hers bargaining skills. She bought one item for just over 1/2 price
