After Lochanger we went into the town of Albert and went to the Museum of the Trenches. During WWII the city fathers of Albert opened up and strengthened the medieval tunnels under the town to serve as bomb shelters for the people. We also went for a walk along the ramparts of the town, starting at the Menin Gate, across the Lille Gate and as far as the ramparts now go. There was a wonderful display of posters and stories about promoting peace in the world. I think I read every word on every poster, I was so impressed. Now, I woke up at 4am because I felt hungry. I am simultaneously chatting and skyping with my friends while eating some cold bread and butter. I am really excited for our adventure today. I know this is a very long blog post so I congratulate you if you've made it here. I would've added pictures but I don't have a memory card reader here and/or wifi (yet!).
