Last stop in France

After brekkie it was onto Menton which is a lovely little town just before the Italian border. Menton is a much more down to earth place than its neighbours and more our scene. We found a park right on the beach and went for a wander and took in sum much needed sun. Next stop Italia!!
Not the full monte

Up early as it was a spectacular sunrise - full of pinks and organges. We wanted to hit McWifi before we entered Italy but we did not find one until later in the day in Menton. Before that we drove the coast road through Nice and Monte Carlo, both concrete ...

Gorges Verdon... Route Napoleon

Gorgeous morning and a stunning place for breakfast awaited us just outside Scooby overlooking the lake. I went for a run but Kim was feeling a little under the weather so she stayed and made me breakfast - yay! We spotted two girls about our age and attempted to engage in some conversation but their English was limited and French is rubbish. Shame as its manily been the grey hair brigade we ...

Princess Lesia of Monaco !

... Three hours later, we exited Sabatini's! A fantastic end to a very memorable day! Princess Lesia, this day was yours! Every second, every minute, every hour! I was honored to be your husband because every Princess has a Prince! And for the day, as I escorted you, I felt like Prince Richard!

Bonsoir! Biot-Glass Blowing
After a day lounging at the beach we got back to being busy. We began our day by going into the small town of Biot to a glass blowng factory. They are known for their bubbled glass. We were able to watch 3-4 men impressively blow glass into beautiful wine glasses, bottles and plates. It was easy to tell the master from the apprentice when he grabbed the blowing pipe from the less experienced artisan and talked him down in front of all of us and his coworkers ...

I waved goodbye to Ross and we walked down the red carpet!

We were a little early in the theater so we chatted about the people coming down the red carpet, since they were projecting live footage onto the screen. He told me who all the French celebrities were and I asked him about his work. He is a TV, book and movie writer, mostly of ...

Ventimiglia, Eze and Monaco

... trying to figure out what train I could take back home in the afternoon. I found one at around three and heard someone calling my name. It was my roommate Lina! She missed her train to Milan and decided to spend the day in Ventimiglia with me and then head on to Milan at around 3. So, we were pretty hungry and, of course, had to get pizza. We went to "Big Pizza" where the employees only spoke Italian. I guess we forgot to freshen up on Italian before we went because it was ...

Last days in Antibes and surrounds

... off the main road in as that was where the strikers were marching! Eventually we found a park, and after the success of the little tourist "train" in Cannes found the equivalent in Nice as a way of seeing far more that we could by walking around. It was excellent and took us to the highest point in the City, where we hopped off to catch a later "train" back down. Great place for the days baguettes, and the views over the city were excellent. Quite ...

Antibes

... sea, beside some old guys playing petanque, or a group of building dancing artistes, amazing, being photographed for some magazine spread. Has become friendly with an old Vietnamese lady who has been here for over 40 years, and has learned a lot about living in France. No our French has not improved dramatically, but we are coping and Antibes is the sort of town that accepts some people will speak English and they can and do respond. We continue to try ...
