... money, power, and politics revolved around them. Makes for some grand buildings! As we walked to our B&B we noticed on the same street is the mideavil home of Dante! Just right there on a narrow street surrounded by towers and such. This is a crazy busy town. Shops everywhere including the biggest prosciutto shop. As it was Saturday most of the shops were closed when we arrived (at about lunch time), but after several hours everything opened up. I have to admit that we went to the local tourist office and got a map. On the map there are "walks" marked, each taking about an hour. What I found puzzling was that three trails were around ...

Day 13 Venice to Florence

A travel blog entry by skarm on Apr 25, 2013

After booking out of hotel we had a 3 hr wait before our train to florence all earlier trains were booked up. Waiting at the station I have plenty of time to reflect on our visit to Venice. Celebrating our wedding anniversary in Venice was the main reason to come here. We both enjoyed ourselves, we love Venice. I think another day would have been great we were tired from travelling and sightseeing in Rome. This would have allowed for the trip around the canal by boat. As ...
