... started the workout to climb 400 stairs to the top of the Duomo and then another 400 to the Bell Tower. The view from the top was gorgeous!!!! It was what I had imagined Italy to look like from above - winding passages, terracotta roofs, churches and vineyards mapped out like a fairy book setting. ... our way out again. We did a walking tour which was really interesting and then had a gondola ride, before scoffing down the worlds fastest pizza as we only had about 6 minutes to eat and get back on the train to get back to Florence by 9.30pm.

... into St. Peter's Basilica, we were surrounded by amazing artwork and a lot of marble and gold. I mean, every inch of the interior was either carved into something or had gold on it. Pope John Paul II has his tomb in one area as he was so beloved that people were upset that they could not visit him after death when his body was originally placed in the catacombs below so they brought him upstairs. They recently have begun the process to have him sainted as well. ...
