... just turning around and coming back home, but when I got there I changed my mind and figured I'd find a really good place to eat then come back. The train station is in the new part of the city, but the old part is up on a hill, and as I was walking towards it I felt a desire to go up and have a look around. I came across a gondola sorta thing, and went on that to get up the incredibly steep hill. I had grabbed a map with a couple ...

Milan, Lombardy, Italy oz09departed Brisbane on time, then 7 hrs to Singapore for a well-earned 1 hr stretch of the legs while the plane was refuelled.....then a further 7 hrs to Dubai where we had another welcome 4 hr break between flying.
Partook in some local 'culture' by feasting on a McDonalds "McArabian Chicken Burger" (see photo).

Amazing terminal with ...
Milan, Lombardy, Italy oz09... for Rome, a 6-hour train costing upwards of 50 euros. Not ideal, but Rome is Rome, and should be an adequate way to send Mike out. But then there was Barca sitting on the table, and I thought it sounded just a little bit too far-fetched. But then Christina started checking into budget airlines, and found round trip tickets for 29.98 euros before taxes. Crazy! She printed out the schedule, and I thanked her then peddled back through a light rain to ...

Milan, Lombardy, Italy dhruvanand... to my previous calculations, it was about 3 blocks away from the train station, and it really was. HOWEVER, we ended up going the exact opposite direction for many more blocks, then making a huge circle, asking various Milanese (more successful conversations!), attempted to hail a cab only to find out that you have to call one in advance, you can't just hail them on the street, and finally ...
Milan, Italy jennil507... how many times I go to a bus or train station I always feel lost or confused. This is probably because I am never in the same station twice and even though it may be the same country none of them are at all organized or well mapped out. I spend at least 10mins walking in circles with my huge pack on my back trying to go in the right direction or find the proper bus or train. Even if I ask for assistance, the information desk is never ...
Milan, Italy ksunderhill... like a woman. I really couldn't tell who was holding the shiv, and I can't believe some moron cut off Jesus' feet to make a door bigger. They only let us look for about 15 min before they ushered us out to make room for the next group. Tickets are currently sold out through mid July and there was at least one very angry individual who couldn't get in. From there we had hours to kill before our 11:20 pm train back to Rome. We spent time on the computer in ...
