Wow! Our adventure in Sri Lanka sure did start off with a bang! We literally caught all modes of transport possible to arrive in Arugam Bay for sunrise. Thinking at least there were a few free seats we felt positive, before realising that everyone who got off had just gone to get a quick breakfast so they were ALL coming back on again and there were no free seats. They started to file on and we were getting more and more squashed standing in the isle, and then ...

... Bay. You don't need to get off at the Pottiviul Junction, If you ask some of the buses will take straight down to the bay. The whole journey takes about five hours and costs less than 400 rupees. However first some tips about the buses.

      1. Tourist Reps here will tell you that they don't let big rucksacks onto the buses, so far this has proved not to be the case. Sure one or two locals might look at you, because you are taking up some space, but people with huge bags ...
