Lovely day, rode from St. Clair to Lebanon.....boiling hot (100 degrees ), felt like in fan assisted oven. Steve is now a members of 2 biking gangs already, went for lunch and a fab ride with BIllie and went for iconic lunch on 66... Great! Lisa got attacked by flying , angry , dive bombing hornets and stung twice ( she was not happy!!!), Billlie ...

... that Amish pizza we bought on our little detour, well it might be the best pizza I've ever had. We set up by our campfire and eat our pizza and apple pie by firelight. I'm usually very fussed about the smell of fire smoke (just as Randy or my mom how I shower after a fire at the cottage). But somehow under the stars in Missouri, this one doesn't bother me at all. Heading to Joplin. Missouri today.....right on the border of Kansas.....our fifth state. In Carthage, Missouri we visited a beautiful historic courthouse with an antique cage elevator that still works. We "shot" the Sheriff and his two deputies.......so we got out of Missouri in a hurry. Route ...

... the Giant Rocking Chair - a little quirky tourist lure. Cuba is also known for the number of street murals, not unlike KatiKati at home.We bypassed St Louis except for a quick trip into Ted Drewes Frozen Custard - the ride in was very hot and so many lights so once we got there, we weren't sure if we wanted to eat it or wear it. The ice cream was great to cool us all down and give us a few minutes off the bikes.

... Effingham for lunch (at the American Legion Post in Effingham) for Pork steak, beans and coleslaw. After being there an hour we then headed to Troy, IL for fuel which was a 83 miles leg3.
