Today we were leaving rainy and cold Berlin for Munich. Caught the train down to Berlin Hauptohof where we were collecting a car from Europecar (Volkswagon Golf Variant stationwagon). Finally left Berlin after some holdups with roadworks and congestion.
Once on the Autobahn, we were making good progress. The traffic certainly moves (we were doing ...

Another train trip with DB Bahn the national German carrier... From Salburg to Munich is only 1 hour 45 minutes travelling time .. A pleasant journey to take in the lush green countryside, even if it was shrouded in the foggy mist we've become accustomed to of late.

A little while latter we walked around the centre of town where ...

After arriving in Munich at midnight well after my original landing time, I was exhausted but thrilled to be in Europe! My first day in Europe began with a beautiful train ride through the Bavarian countryside from Munich to Fussen. Once we arrived in Fussen, we boarded a bus to take us to the little town of Hohenschwangau. After observing the length of the lines to purchase tickets, we opted to walk (uphill) to Schloss Neuschwanstein instead of paying for the bus ...

    3. Trains - The German train system is amazing. It's so easy to get to any small town you might want to visit at a very reasonable price. We made full use and did a few day trips from Munich.

    4. Day trip to Murnau & Oberammergau - We took a train to Murnau which is a town about 1 hour South West of Munich. The lakes here are beautiful. It ...
