Driving to York today with Ruth and Charlie we stopped to view Hadrian's Wall at two locations. Maps 1-2. An 83 year old woman riding nearby said that on a clear day you can see it to the horizon. Running virtually from coast to coast we realise the Romans were making a serious effort to keep the Scots out of their domain. Not a lot has changed in 2000 years has it. ... built around the few remains ruins of York Castle it's actually a very interesting and well laid out museum (which is good as I've seen a few recently). Sections on life in the olden days, children's toys and pastimes up until now, a great exhibition on The First World War and another on the 60s.
