... aspect with Mike ............which he didnt see as a concern ..........he had been living in Botswana for 7 years ......and had done the same type of bidget travelling all over that country ................
Admittedly once or twice he had refused lifts ......if his instincts told him to ............But sure enough ......thumbing lifts was fairly commonplace with the locals............with so few cars and such large distances......i had always witnessed strangers stopping to help ...
... can really be "real" and that there are no theme park stagers releasing the animals just before we drive around a bend. Honestly, it is mind boggling that there are still places that are in balance so perfectly that these numbers of animals of so many species can exist.
Time for our flight...to Capetown from Livingstone, Zambia so I'll get to day two and beyond, tomorrow. (Promise I won't give eve
We are so glad we came...
... there is an entry fee of $20 and we had heard reports that we'll get a look at them on Monday when we cross over the Zambian border bridge. Within 5 minutes of arriving at the falls we realised it would of been madness not to come look at them (We saw hardly any of the falls from the bridge on Monday anyway). The Falls stretch for over a mile and are absolutely stunning. Locally they are known as Mosi-Oa-Tunya aka The smoke that thunders! We spent 2 hours walking the length of ...
Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe alandrach... to you, cover you with a soft gentle wing, so that you have a safe journey, wrapped in God's love, protected by his power and peace till you reach home safely.
"Wish we will meet again in joy and love. I will always miss you.
And in a heart shape she wrote:
"We will miss you. God bless you. Don't forget we love you. Take good care of yourself. Please pass our greetings to your friends and family. Till we meet again.
Signed: "We always miss you. Safe journey, Teacher Sandrah"
... You then meet other guides and volunteers that are working with the lions in the bush to literally walk around the bush with the lions. Another teaching volunteer, Sarah from Scotland, and I went. They were late picking us up, so we ended up having a private walk. We walked with three lions - two male and one female. They were all right around a year old. This is a relatively new project and will ultimately have five phases. The young ...
Livingstone, Zambia hilaryad... devoid of traffic. The sky was bright blue and the scattered cumulus clouds added to the beauty of the scene. The temperature was about 72F and it really was a beautiful day.
We checked in to the A’Zambezi Lodge and found the grounds to be impressive with lawns, swimming pool, thatched-roof buildings, and the Zambezi River flowing past, but the rooms were a tad small and weary. Their internet service was down all day, so wi-fi (priced at $5 ...
... of what felt slightly like civilisation. Zambia has a completely ridiculous currency where a bottle of water costs like 14,000 kwacha... not quite as bad though as the zimbabwean currency where you can buy a 20 trillion dollar note on the border for a couple of $.
The highlight for Zambia is Livingstone where Victoria Falls is and where all the adrenalin activities are. So three days here was just perfect... camping ...
When I arrived in Livingstone, I had a coca-cola (something I rarely drink) and rushed to catch a riverboat because I had booked a dinner cruise on the upper Zambezi.
Drinks were free so I had a few beers and watched the hippos yawning in the distance. The boat came back to shore around sunset and I sat around chatting with friends. I met another American named Ashely (who was from Denver) and we danced into the night to early 90's hits ...
... Africa - no **** we've told you that like 60 times. So apparently they have been reactivated. We'll no doubt find out next time we try and book our flights. Spent the rest of the evening playing with Misty. Everytime the manager came out he'd see me holding her and ask if I had just woken her up again. No I swear... she moved so I assumed she was already awake. Heheeeee soooo cute. I want a puppy.
Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe oliveramber... all the water rushes over the edge. Very cool. In low season you can swim there. If we had of slipped and fell in we would have been over the falls in seconds. Views were incredible and once again we got incredibly wet. At one part there is a bridge crossing over the gorge which is completely covered in a torrential downpour. I don't think we could have looked wetter had we just stepped from the shower. Fun though.
