    ... cars which is not a surprise really. Much more a touristy thing. Apparently they were introduced here in 1873 (because the horse drawn carriages struggled on the steep hills and killed too many horses by being dragged after falling) and gradually grew to 21 routes covering 52.8 miles. Now there are only 3 routes and the cars themselves are National Landmarks.

    Luckily, Paul is not geographically challenged like me and manages to navigate us to get off the cable car at the TOP ...

    d. Riding Taxis

    Make sure you get in a regular taxi, not the black cars or private owned cars. Generally, the taxi drivers know where they are going if you show them the Chinese address or tell them in Chinese. One warning: be careful of paying with a hundred RMB if the cab ride is less than fifty RMB. Some cab drivers give out fake fifty RMB bills.
