Onwards up this pass there are old lookout points and castles with cannons
set at them etc. These must have been in place to protect the border from Italy
or vise versa.
By late afternoon the weather had changed for the better and the sun was
shining. The temp fell as low as 8 today but was now way up at 15 Celsius once
