Finally on the go

Well Melbourne gave me a decent send off - gale force winds to the point I was worried about having a delayed if not cancelled flight. There was even a tumbleweed on the way to the airport!

All worked out fine and the flight itself had no issues (excusing the horrible cabin attendant, the kid who kept kicking my seat and the guy next to me who was too big (not obese just tall and large) for the seat and who kept leaning over me to see what was out the window (ask for a window seat dude...

Just a short overnight before we fly home tomorrow

Check in at 5pm and out at 7am. We will be in the air almost 24 hours tomorrow.

It's been an incredible trip with everything from beaches, desert, mountains and even snow. We have stayed in some of the most luxurious resorts to a few questionable motels out in the desert. We've eaten everywhere from a gas station on our outback journey to 5 course meals in a few spectacular destinations.

We were lucky enough to make the journey with two very good friends that we enjoy spending t...

... oi, oi&#8221; . The custom officials had come aboard at BoraBora, and we filled out all the forms on ship, so disembarking was a breeze. Basically we collected our luggage and walked off. We caught a taxi and went to find our rental car. Driving will take a bit of getting used to, as it appears oncoming traffic is coming straight at you. ... skin of their nose. That job lasted 2 weeks and was without a doubt the most depressing, body aching and mind taunting job i ever had. But no one gave a dime. ... couple of hyperactive presenters giving it all the &#8220;He&#8217;s behind you&#8221; gayness but managed to escape out a side door before it was too late. After the museum I treated myself to Fish &amp; Chips, which I had been looking forward to since I got here, it&#8217;s just not the same when it&#8217;s not served in a newspaper! ... had views of the Opera House. We had amazing luck that they happened to have a festival going on where an artist had designed different patterns that were being projected on the Opera House that only worked to intensify its already majestic presence. The pictures (like most in this entry) don&#8217;t do the experience justice.<br>

... reds - the woman got quite annoyed when I didn't enthuse about any of them ! The Hunter Valley Gardens are well worth a visit. There are acres of beautiful themed gardens, Chinese, Japanese, Italian etc. with a special children's garden illustrating nursery rhymes. We pushed on that night to a nice camper park by the beach near Nelson Bay at Port Stephens. Port Stephens is a popular boating, fishing & family holiday area & home to many friendly dolphins.

... their schedule you will not have full hiking days. They call them "walks" for a reason. If you want "hikes," then do them quicker (I liked the Routeburn in 2 days), or be sure to take each and every side trip. Really, my advice, get to New Zealand, it's worth the long trip... Well, it was a blast, time to have a fun week in Aussie land...and then a major culture shock with China. Wow, this trip is crazy. Let's hope I find a good doctor tomorrow....

Sunny Sydney

... decided to stop here for dinner so all's well! We take the next train to Sydney - whilst a thunder-storm rages around us for the whole two hour trip. Arriving at Sydney central station we wait for the rain to ease off before legging it back to the hotel - very lucky not to be soaked through again. We both really enjoyed the day, though admittedly it had some trials for us - and are really glad that we didn't take the pre-arranged tours. The only change we'd ...
