Sorry for the gap in posts, we didn't get internet in Byron bay! Byron was a cool little town, it had a strong surfer/hippie vibe to it. Lots of little shops, cafes and restaurants lined the streets. When we first arrived in Byron we dropped out bags and joined others from our hostel on a complimentary walking tour of the headland. Time to enjoy some of Queensland's national parks over the next few days. We decided to head for Tamborine Mountain National Park today, taking in some scenery along the way. We packed up camp and headed for Caloundra's Information Centre, where the staff drew us a nice scenic route to take through the Glass House Mountains area.

Thanks to a good nights sleep we were up early and rearing to go. One of the must do things in Byron was to walk to the lighthouse, Cape Byron. It is the most easterly point of Australia. Whales can often be seen from the lighthouse as they pass on their migration routes. Immediately to the South of the Cape was a hot surfer spot. The dolphins know this and this is also their playground. We had heard several stories of how the dolphins jump through the waves with the surfers and we hoped ...

... had a nice view over the beach which had a some good waves, pity none of us are capable enough at surfing :) one day maybe :) We have now headed back to the hotel to prepare for an early night before we have to get up super early to leave by 5am to get to the airport in the morning. We have had such a great time over here and are already trying to work put when we can get back to enjoy all this sunshine again soon ...

... been to with a friend when I first visited Sydney. Had some nice food and a couple of home made ciders, before heading back home and falling asleep extremely early (getting old n all...). On day 6 we visited a couple of markets, the first a small market at bondi and the second paddys market, a huge market in the city centre.
