"Backpackers Inn Paradise" war wohl eher "Backpackers Inn Hell" !!!
Puenktlich (NICHT), um 17.30 Uhr, nach einer Flasche Rotwein auf EX, kamen wir leicht bedueddelt (besonders Fatima) und trotzdem topgestylt und aufgedreht bei Station 1 von 5 an (Billy's Beach(*****)house).

We have had quite a relaxing day, for us anyway! It has also been rather a good day. We drove up to Tambarine Mountain this morning and went for a walk around the Knoll and Sandy Creek just outside Mount Tambarine village. What a beautiful place. The sky was clear and dazzling blue, the views were amazing; one way looking out over ...
... on again and soon came across a detour taking us off the Pacific Highway as the road to Byron Bay was flooded. We had to take a detour up into the hills and along very twisty, windy roads. It was worth it though for the view we got of the Bay as we came over the last hill. After getting slightly lost we finally found the campsite. We checked in and headed straight into town to get some shopping and swap some used books. The town looked like a real holiday town. The sun was shining ...
Surfers Paradise, Queensland, Australia alandrach... Surfers is famous for its Friday debauchery in that way. I find the market and its really pretty and well lit but I dont have my camera as the battery is dead and I forgot to charge it (sorry no photos!!). In the markets I find I can get my name carved on just about anything worth carving on, I can look at the moon for 3 dollas (5 for a family) through giant telescopes. Another has built a sand sculpture - you can look at it but if you want a photo of it ...
Surfers Paradise, Queensland, Australia clairebr... it was still there when we walked back past it! There were some great views from the top of the mountain and have some cool pics. The roads up to mountains were very windy road and made Cat feel dizzy and sick! But it was well worth it once we arrived at the top. We went to an Outback dinner show one evening which involved lots of horses, sheep and cattle. It was really good fun and we got to wear cowboy hats all night! :-)
Surfers Paradise, Queensland, Australia catandtim... report we soon found ourselves heading back for the bus. At least the hostel pool had some water in it! ha ha. So the issue of the ever annoying backpacks!! Well people we have solved it! How, I hear you ask! Well - we fecked them in the bin and bought matching suitcases with wheels! Woohooo.........the cutest cases you ever did see! We like 2 matching minnies and loving it! We are no longer backpackers - and our embracing our new term - ''Flashpackers ...
Surfers Paradise, Australia flojoy... water gets sprayed at you and if you are lucky/unlucky you get drenched when you go down one of the rapid areas. We went on this ride about 5 times during the day - Suzanne didn't get wet the first three rides and was feeling pretty secure that she would avoid the drenching us boys had received but the last two rides saw her pretty much get wet through. While she went to dry off the boys and I had a ride on the log ride where you ride a canoe type ...
Dreamworld, Australia georgeescape... night before. The next couple of days pretty much turned into an alcoholic blur and hence my initiation to the Goldy had commenced. St Patrick's Day was a pretty big affair We all headed into surfers to our local Irish bar, Gahooleys (since renamed fiddlers green). Whilst the day started off pretty subdued, after a few pints of the black stuff it was back to our usual antics. I ...
Goldy, Australia jag... went on Australia's highest and fastest water slide - a near 45' incline from about 20 meters. That was quite a thrill. It has a nice lagoon area with an impressive city-scape backdrop, but because of the a*shole bouncers, rowdiness, etc., Brisbane was a bit of a dissapointment for us. This first entry without photo's suggests the same...
Brisbane, Australia stevecarroll... to at least get a napkin (up to this point iIve had my thumb shoved up there). I went to the information desk and asked if there was a toilet. Apparently you have to go through the gates to get to it (and to get through the gates I correctly surmised that you needed a ticket). I guess a nose bleed is as good as any ticket, and the guy let me through. On the way out he was supposed to check my ticket again, but I said thanks and he remembered who I was, so that went ok ...
