The Stamford Plaza is a very nice hotel, centrally located. It is just a couple of blocks from the ferry piers. The room are spacious and comfortable. I recommend the hotel.

Comfortable rooms, a bit sleepy, could use upgrades in the rooms. Concierge and front desk people are wonderful, friendly and made the stay. Dining in the city is very expensive and sometimes your expectations of food presentations can be disappointing. Kabuki Restaurant in hotel disappointed me. I just didnt feel sophisticated having someone throw shrimp at me to try to grab with my mouth...as well as throw the rice bowl at me to try to catch. Sure didnt want to ruin my clothing by missing.

We only stayed one night at the Stamford Plaza and it was okay for our very short visit. Would not rave about the hotel but the staff were very friendly and the room was more than adequate, if a little dated and the bathroom was nice and big. Certainly, would have no problem coming back to this hotel but compared to some of the more modern hotels, it is showing signs of age.

Secured a good room on the weekend special.
Very comfortable room. Had a relaxing bath to start the holiday and get in the right frame of mind.

This was a short business trip to Auckland. On my time off, I finally visited the Catholic Cathedral. The Cathedral is on the same site that was deeded to the church in 1841. The existing Cathedral structure dates from 1885. It was a spectacular space.

Walking through the Cathedral, I discovered an Auckland nun has been beatified. Sister …

After landing in Auckland and claiming our baggage, we hailed a taxi. On our way to the Stamford Hotel, I found myself thinking how odd it is that there is not a motorway from the airport to the Central Business District. The journey from the airport to the CBD is mainly on surface streets. That can be particularly maddening during the morning or …
