We stopped at the port of Corfu. The only way to really get around the island is to take an excursion. At least it was for us. We were going to see a Monastery in the village of Palaiokastritsa and to the village of Gastouri to visit the 19th century Achilleion Palace.
The places were very beautiful and again the excursions didn't disappoint ...

June 23, 5:31 AM -- Igoumenitsa, Greece The ferry, naturally, became a little less charming when everyone else had boarded. I stayed outside during embarkation, but retreated in once it got too cold (I didn't pack any long pants). Went to the dining area and ordered two portions of salmon and a ham+egg salad. The bill came to only 40 euro, so value wise it was unbelievable. Day one over we went to bed full and at least half way tipsy. A very solid start ...

After being up so late, we slept very, very late this morning. We went down to the coffee bar and picked up coffee and a quick bagel for breakfast. What’s nice about this ship is that there are options to eat in between meals for when we miss the traditional breakfast time and it’s not quite lunch time.

We took the shuttle into Corfu and were pleasantly surprised. The old town was a ...

... as we laughed like maniacs. (Shaking my head at myself.)

Finally, we went and sat on a terrace near the church, overlooking the water and were reprimanded by the guy selling beer next to the church. Of course he had a valid point but really, he wasn’t one to talk. He pointed inside the church, shook his head no and said something that sounded like, “No. Closed.” Alexia ...
