... to our hotel. While warmer than Halifax, still a colder temperature than we were hoping for at 7. However, no snow!

We have a small room that, while a little rough around the edges, is comfortable enough. It is close to the train station for the two day-trips we had planned, as well as being a 20 minute walk to the Old City, the historic part of Munich. After settling in, we ventured out to said Old ...

... camp was predominately used as a labour camp - or so they labelled it that to hide the behind the scenes – it had a large quarry within it which the prisoners had to work at 12 hours a day, with only being fed once every three days! To get to the bottom of this quarry was what is called the ‘death stairs’ and they were pretty horrendous even in our day and age. The prisoners used to be shackled together ...

... in Munich we went to the concentration camp in Dachau. This was the "model" concentration camp for the many that were to follow. It was potentially one of the most bizarre feelings being there. You walk into this "site" with the impression that it is going to be all dark and gloomy and morbid, but the truth of the matter is that it is summer and it was hot and sunny with blue sky and lovely gardens surrounding us. We then ...
