Weeks 8-9: Denmark, Spain and a Belgian Hospital

... a tourist. Berlin almost had that vibe, but just missed out, but I must say that Copenhagen definitely made me feel that way in just 2.5 hours. Ella, I am quite jealous of the time you will get to spend there as a student!

I left Copenhagen in the mid-afternoon for Malaga, on the Costa del Sol in the south of Spain, to visit friends of my grandmother's there. Upon arrival, I was highjacked by a man speaking in Dutch, asking if I spoke English and Spanish. He was quite relieved ...

Most horrible restaurant ever in SPA Belgium

During our stay in Spa we had the most scary, horrible, unpleasant experience ever in a restaurant.

The restaurant to avoid is "Le Bouchon Gourmand", the owner does not hesitate to insult customers, lock them into the restaurant if there is a dispute on the bill, and claim more money than is due.

See more on www.bouchon-gourmand.blogspot.com

Whew!!! Busy Day!!

I. Am. Tired.

But, I got all of my goals accomplished today, so I am also very happy!!

After my successful lesson at school I took the bus back to Aachen. I got off a couple stops short of home to stop by the electric company. It was surprisingly easy. I brought in the paper the guy gave me this morning when he looked at my apartment. The paper has the number of my electrical meter on it. I told the lady that I wanted to turn it ...

Lean Green gives up the ghost

... They told us we were at the highest point in Belgium, which was somewhere in the Nature Park.

We decided to call it a day for the roadbook, and make a detour to just get into Luxembourg for fuel, and to make sure we 'did' all the countries.

Looking back that detour cost us some time, but did mean we visited Luxembourg, even if it was too dark to see it.
... on.

We stopped at one point, because the roadbook wasn't very clear, at which point Gaz and Charlotte came up behind us. They had been left behind by the V8s, as they were in a Series vehicle, so we said we'd stick with them.
At this point, Kieran noticed a strange noise from our engine, which was duly investigated by James. It was diagnosed as the fan belt tensioning pulley. But we didn't do anything about it at the time.
... quick to traverse. On the other hand, the combined population of those three countries is around 27.5 million compared to our population of about 3.3 million. They have about one tenth our land area and ten times the population.....so their population density is nearly 100 times what it is here -- and correspondingly, features and attractions are far more densely packed there. You can see a lot more a lot faster.

Cologne... mmm that smells nice.

... back to the hotel (wayyy nice and gorgeous) and I showered (finally). We thought we could catch the next train to Bonn and somehow find the rest of the group!? (don't ask me about the thought process there) We ran to the train and missed it by literally 5 seconds. Time to find food in BN!!! We ate at a little Italian place and then wandered down the street to watch the game at the Borgsitter. Everyone sits outside in European restaurants... I don't ...

After we picked our lunch items from the one-third of the supermarket aisles dedicated to groceries, Amber got side-tracked admiring the second third of the aisles, all dedicated to chocolate, while I went AWOL in the last third of the supermarket, eyeing off all the shelves stocked with beer.

We cycled back the way we came to return once again to The Netherlands ...
