Disembarking from one of the best weeks of holidays I have ever had.
Wish could stay another week. Not much sleep last night. Off the ship and had hire car by 8.30
Bit of a jigsaw puzzle getting all our luggage in the boot. But we 2 clever girls. We did it.
So the plan was to drive to at least Daytona Beach and decide what to do from there. Got here for lunch. Drove along the beach whichever as pretty neat, then stopped into Daytona ...

Today, only 13 people live on this 18 mile long island and there is 1 woman who lives alone, after she shot and killed her boyfriend, and has been there for 40 years (she arrived at age 18). We happened to run into her. Looks like she time warped from the 60's.

... of the National Historic Landmark District, including many of the mansions their millionaire owners called “cottages”. On Thurs, 27 March we enjoyed the tram tour through the Historic District and going inside a couple of the cottages. Unfortunately we were unable to take any photos inside any of the homes. After our tour we were treated to a wonderful Brunch at the Jekyll Island Club Hotel.

From Tifton I drove Highway 82 east to the coast and I95. The highway was four lane and divided - two eastbound and two westbound with lots of speed zones where the speed dropped from 65 to 55 to 45 to 35 mph. Earlier we had seen the large luxury coaches pulling large trailers and we assumed they were on their way to Amelia Island or Daytona Bike Week. On this road there lots of logging trucks and there ...
