We had planned to visit Waterton National Park for a little while, and on the day we tried to do just that the heavens opened and the day was a complete washout. As we approached the town of Waterton the skies were almost black and the rain drummed into the windscreen of the car relentlessly. The town itself was all boarded up for the season, and not a solitary sole was to be seen on the streets. The only inhabitants of the town that we saw that day ...
We didn't travel far today, just down the road to a lovely provincial park set in the mountains. The road into it was dirt and in most places single lane. We were hoping that we wouldn't meet anyone, as it would be many kilometers to back up. The lake is a popular fishing location and was really beautiful. after setting up the RV, we drove down this four wheel drive track to Quartz lake, where I went fishing and Jo sat in her camp chair high up on a cliff knitting socks!!!
Skookumchuck, British Columbia, Canada brentandjoWe are currently at Fernie, staying with a friends, we have left the Rv in Cochrane and are here with one of Jos cousins, her aunt and and assortment of cousins children. Fernie, British Columbia, Canada brentandjo... was crazy you could see right across the Rockies for miles and miles truly breath taking.
On another day off Patricia took me for a hike to Cliff Lake and again amazing views and a glacier lake which we both jumped into, my god it was proper cold.
it was a real shame to leave the ranch as i could of stayed a while longer, aah well this is one place i would to come back to and i am sure i will.. cheers Trish...
Crossed the Rockies, left Jasper National Park behind as we travel through the Kootenay region, past Fort Steele and stop at Cranbrook. Hope the truck is ready as promised tomorrow, we will drive to Kalispell once more and re-visit Eureka MT on the way. What gorgeous weather we have been granted!
... where we started across the border to the States on day one. The weather today was much better.
The ride was great, all roads stayed at least 2 lanes, and no crazy turns. We did have one small problem with the communication system....We were driving along chatting and the sound in my helmet went funny....then Todd couldn't hear me talk. I checked my cords and found that the connection had been resting on the exhaust pipe and melted...the cord came loose from the clip. What a ...
The next morning we had to leave this area of the Rockies and make our way down to our Dude ranch
across the border in Idaho. We drove out of the National Park but before leaving we stopped at the Paint Pots and took a walk to see where the Indians used to collect the iron ore for their painting of teepees and facial paint. The Iron ore is pushed to the surface so there are three large pools of terracotta colour. The indians only used what was necessary, making it into ...
The start of the trip was interesting. It started off on a beautiful morning but the ****ing the gps cracked! Had to stop in at gps central to buy a new one. Then we were on the road, well actually the motorway, negotiating on off ramps while cars motored passed at 100 +. Once we were out of the city limits the road narrowed to two lanes and the side lane widened. We peddle out to our first town, Cochrane 45miles, pulled up under some big pines with lush ...
Fernie, British Columbia, Canada jeydoublesyou... the downtown area of Fernie was not without its former-mining town sense of Canadian charm, and after all, the skiing was the main focus, and it also became apparent that a number of skiers (mostly Scandinavians, it seemed) had descended upon the resort for the entire season, and were lapping up the diversity of the terrrain, and the scope for ski heaven which the entire region provided. Since it also became apparent that Canadian portions at restaurants were not really far behind ...
