... the bus (3 hour journey) to the town near where we were booked in for two nights. We arrived in the town, Chania, to discover there were no buses to anywhere near our hotel and we would have to catch a taxi. To complicate matters, Mark discovered that we had lost the credit card. Big Bugger. We managed to scrape together enough cash to pay for the taxi to our apartment / hotel room, which was LOVELY, but unfortunately in the MIDDLE OF NOWHERE! No cafes, no ...

We went off in search of food and found a quiet taverna - crushed fresh tomatoes and olive oil on a baked brown bread; greek tomato, feta, pepper, and olive salad; and ...
We had decided to go to Knossos on our last full day (Friday) as it is close to Iraklio where Chris and Milly will fly from on Friday night. But it made sense to take the last day in a more leisurely fashion and visit the Minoan palace of Knossos on Thursday. So we did.
After a brisk drive through the usual nightmare traffic and narrow streets, and our usual lunch, this time just across the road from the palace, we entered the grounds. The entry fee is €6 ...
... tennis, playstation, tv and pool on offer and there is also 14 lovely little bungalows you can stay in for your holiday, right on the beach if you don't want to camp in a tent.
Just imagine waking up to the view of the waves crashing on the rocks right outside your door ........... I can't wait for next summer as we will definately be there again.
p.s. After reading some of the other blogs I agree Hersonissos can be a crazy place in town ...
Somehow wherever I am on holiday I think about Mark. Perhaps it's because you notice couples holding hands on the beach or it's just part of the holiday romance ...

Si intr-adevar in Grecia biserica ortodoxa e foarte puternica. Puterea sa e data mai degraba de bogatie imobiliara decat ...
Travel pod entry for Aug 15th: Heraklion, Crete Heraklion was nearly abandoned apart from the influx of cruise ship tourists. Today is the Holy Day of the Assumption of Mary, and nearly all of Southern Europe is at home or at the beach. As a result, when we got into town relatively early it was practically deserted. The port area leaves much to be desired visually, but once you get into the heart of town it's quite charming. Crete has a culture, people and a ...

"Hello come into my restaurant. We sell nice food.. fish.. meat.." and they quote the whole menu to you while all you want to do is run away. So in our case not the best way to get us to eat there. That's sounds like rather childish behaviour of us if I read that :/
I just swollowed salt water *Yuck!* The sea was lovely though - many waves!
... ticket and had an 8 hour wait since it didn't leave until 9pm! After a spot of lunch in a roadside cafe, we found a nice piece of green grass on which to relax, rest and sunbathe until our boat came in. We lay down a few towels, kicked our shoes off, dumped our suitcases and made ourselves at home, taking it in turns to go and explore Heraklion. By 6pm we were becoming tired and weary. The last thing we needed ...
