... s and a Lakh of Bulbs

Since it was Sunday, and very likely teeming with Indian tourists, we decided to postpone our touring the Palace. For a brief time in the evening, only on weekends and special celebrations, they light up the palace with 98000 incandescent light bulbs. We planned head over there after dark to see the Palace lit up.

Slightly drunk we made our short way to the North gate of the Mysore Palace only to find it closed. Apparently the tourist entrance is South gate so we made our slightly longer way there. It was jammed full of local tourists. Which was to be expected on a public ...

... Last night the driver convinced us that he knew both places like the back of his hand but in actual fact it was evident that he had never been to either place, stopping to ask for directions every 5 minutes. Anyway, it was a 3 hour drive to Seringapatam where we stopped to check out the Tipu Sultan palace and fort walls which features in the Sharpe books Michael loves. From there we drove for another ...
