With the night's darkness and warmth still in the air we left early in the morning to take our private transfer up the winding roads through the hills and into the mountains of Periyar. We woke up to more clouds and very confused - we were told it doesn't rain at all in the 'dry' season. ... in! I can safely say that eating sloppy curry with your hands is not my cup of tea! After dinner there is a satsong class for 1.5hrs. Satsong is where you take time to meditate and spend time on your mental well being. We start by walking silently around the room for 30mins - then a 30 minute chant, followed by some more chanting and drums and - then a reading from the ashrams guru yogis - then some more chanting....... This totally threw us out of our comfort zones but we tried ...
