      ... very funky smell. The guy on reception was really lovely and was trying to get me and Noel to go out with hi for drinks. As soon as we arrived the heavens opened and torrential rain started. Once it had eased we walked back to Cenang Beach road.       ... this was truly an amazing experience. Langkawi The second island Langkawi was more beautiful. White beaches and palm trees were everywhere to be found. The island is somewhat a tax paradise. Duty free shops are everywhere and in bars and restaurants you can get nice prices for beer and liquor. But sadly this is going to change in May 2015.       Before we knew it we were hugging goodbye and looking back through the taxi window at a place and a person that had become so special to us in so many ways. We knew that we’d experienced the real Langkawi because of Irwan, our funny, artistic kind hearted friend that we would miss dearly.

      ... He finally returned to the boat with a full belly and offered some rather disingenuous apologies. He liked to be centre of attention and made sure no one forgot he was there.

      We headed back down the river to the muddy banks occupied by monkeys. The tour guide supplied us with monkey nuts with which to feed them with. I was surprised to find that the monkeys didn't snatch the food but took it from my hand gently.

      ... either. Needless to say (and hate to admit it) we had to complain. I think they were a bit surprised but after a couple of hours they moved us to a better chalet.
