Made it down the bay overnight

... for poor visibility we were ducking in and out of the channel to avoid Navy traffic.

During the trip down anything that wasn't fastened down below ended up on the floor in the salon. Left Annapolis at 2 Monday and arrived at Top Rack Marina at about 2 this afternoon. Rewarded ourselves with a great dinner out at the Amber Lantern Restaurant. Early to bed. Up at 5:30 tomorrow to get underway at first light.

... that fresh salt air. There's miles of beach & you could see the 23 Mile long Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. An interesting sight as the bridge stops at a man made island in the middle of the bay where it becomes a tunnel for a while, then the bidge starts again & continues to the other side!

Now its getting dark at 5pm, BBQing has to be done by flashlight!!

... I'm sitting on the beach watchin the waves and the reflection of the moon. Continuous military F14 jet exercises going on up until around midnight, so it's very loud (and very cool). Suddenly I hear large military helicopters. I look up and they're about 100ft over the water directly in front of me, in STEALTH mode - no lighting whatsoever. Very surreal, thinking they have to be practicing this stuff for actual missions. ...

There was a lot of pressure riding on the experience of Virginia Beach. Luckily it lived up to everything we had hoped for. ... at the starboard helm and set the drags on the two rods on that side. Donna and Jim handled the rods on the port side. Fortunately, the fish didn’t cross each other and tangle the lines and we ultimately got them all in! Whew! What a fire drill! Dave and Jim spent much of the rest of the day cleaning fish….
We caught one additional mahi on day 4 soon after exiting the Gulf ...
