... enough with sufficient power. So they designed one, made it, tested it and then got it and the plane all the way to the Outer Banks by train, boat and donkey! What genius.

This very Northern end of the Outer Banks is the most upmarket with less sand, more trees, wild Banks ponies, classy shops and restaurants. We had a wonderful meal at the Northbank Raw Bar. Sue had shrimp (prawns) steamed in front of her while I had rockfish (striped bass). ...

... Fleet. Hence, lighthouses everywhere and I reckon babies learn reef knots before teething. There are two very long bridge/tunnel crossings to let cars go North. The tunnel parts are so the enemy cannot bomb a bridge and trap the fleet.

Weather changed tonight from perfect to windy. We shift to Ocracoke Island tomorrow, so might be a rough crossing.

... charm of Gold Coast in the mid 60's and looks like the last coat of paint came at the turn of the century (refer photo).    We toured the base today and are in awe. Annual payroll is USD19Billion! At any time 46,000 sailors are there with 124,000 based there, but obviously many deployed. 1 shower, 4 people....share and play nicely with others. Is this hotel room getting smaller? Nope! It's just fine. Very comfortable. 1:00pm- we are at the Roanoke park area. About to watch a "worth-it" short film on the history. We saw an Indian settlement, toured the museum, boarded a replica of a European exploration ship and learned about the lost colony. 5:00pm- we just crossed the Chesapeake and are driving north through the Eastern shore of VA. ... that fresh salt air. There's miles of beach & you could see the 23 Mile long Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. An interesting sight as the bridge stops at a man made island in the middle of the bay where it becomes a tunnel for a while, then the bidge starts again & continues to the other side!

Now its getting dark at 5pm, BBQing has to be done by flashlight!!
