Our favoritest hotel chain ever!

... to watch while we ate chips and salsa, then returned the DVD for another, which we watched later. Kelsey loved being able to cook dinner--and I mean beyond preparing microwave pasta dishes. She made ranch chicken and peas, and I did the dishes. Kinda like normal life :)

We're thankful for our little room in Candlewood. It'll be a nice home base for a while. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go make some tea.

The Andy Warhol Museum

... It was like heaven on earth. My favourite art, all in one place. All from Mr. Warhol, but to top it off, the temporary exhibit was Shepard Fairey, the guy who made that famous Obama stencil, and also the guy who did the Obey Andre the Giant stencil and designed some White Stripes album covers and Smashing Pumpkin's Zeitgeist. Awwwwesome. I could've easily spent a few hours just there.

However, it was not to be.

Steph, Lee and I left the exhibit at exactly at the time we were ...

Credit crisis in the capitol

... easier although I did hasten my pace. We did have a great meal however and as luck had it I was able to pick-up a cheap bottle of South African sparkling wine (Graham Beck Brut) to compensate for the long walk. Needless to say the next day we discover many closer supermarkets in the area but at least the long walk gave me a chance to see Washington's interesting student filled side streets. In New York we noticed that many people walking along the streets or ...

Going home

... a shuttle bus for only 50 cents. Unfortunately, on Sundays it does not leave until 11am, which was too close to our flight. We inquired about a cab but it would be over $15, which seemed a little ridiculous. So the boys found another way to entertain themselves.... They collected baggage carts, which provide 25 cents each when returned to the machine. Over an hour and a half they got $8 and had such fun ...

The White House, finally!

... so we didn't think much of it. It is high tourist season, so we expected it. But once we got inside, we noticed that there were cameras and cables strung all over the library room. Then we overheard someone say that President Bush had just been filming a message in that room; the tours had been delayed, which accounted for the backlog in the line by the time we got there. It was exciting to think that we were there just shortly after the President ...

She then looks at me again still rubbing and says, "Try doing it after your meals, just like I'm showing you...(pause)...just stroking it!" I kid you not my friends, she with her hand between my legs, rubbing wildly, told me to stroke it. Rather than laugh, which I really wanted to do, I said, "can my lady help?" She said sure. Anyway ...

The bus driver leaves us high and dry

... a scratch, and I was able to count myself lucky. Fortunately Jay was alright about it too, as I was quite fearful of incurring his wrath. We headed down the National Mall towards the Washington Monument, passing a dodgy Chinese festival and a display of US military hardware. We then headed over towards the White House, and sat on the grass across the road from it for a while, watching a game of flag football. At this point, Jay started to get a bit emotional, going on about ...
