    Day 38 Wednesday 8th July
    Macon to Melbourne, Florida 460 miles

    Well last full riding day today and a so called transit day with lots of miles to cover mainly on Interstate. Andy S has decided to ride in the pick up truck, so there is only myself and Scotty and Catherine in our riding group.

    ... did some office work before heading back across the state to Mari Jon’s place in Melbourne. I took morning walks along the beach and enjoyed watching the shorebirds (dunlins, sanderlings and Royal terns) flit around on the sand chasing the waves and the graceful pelicans gliding over the water with their wingtips barely skimming the surface. One morning I even saw two dolphins surfing on the waves!

    ... the mud on both sides of the kayak trying to push and scooting trying to get into deep water because I just know that that alligator is going to come my way and get right in my kayak. Finally I got moving and Mic said he had never seen me paddle so fast. The rest of the trip I stayed in the middle of the river where the water is deeper. The only reason I was so close to shore was to cut down on the wind. Wolf spotted another alligator ...

    So, I'm beginning a crazy adventure from a very mundane place-- 'home'. It's not really home, I've almost lived longer everywhere else I've lived.
