From Gettysburg to Richmond on a Civil War Day. Peter is an avid reader of Civil War history and his interest has rubbed of on all of us. On to Sharpsburg/Antietam Creek Battlefield. We visited the sunken road and Burnside's Bridge. A very peaceful, much more contained area than Gettysburg and yet the more casualties were suffered here in one day than any other military day with some 23,000 ...

As we depart Delaware we continue our trek south towards the suburbs of Richmond VA where our next stopover is scheduled. Robin and Phillip (Casey's sister and husband) have graciously opened their home and are giving us respite for the week. This visit to Richmond also gives us a much anticipated chance to see J.J. We have really missed him and Casey was truly ecstatic. She's missed having the opportunity to do what mothers do best - Nag! ;o).

We watched canoeists on the rapids and read about the story of the Island and its use as a prison during the civil war. We headed into historic Richmond to a restaurant called Tarrants which used to be a drug store, and enjoyed a very tasty ...

... and only move it into the garage when Henry is present and it's raining. I imagine when the skunk realizes there is no more food, he'll head for greener pastures. In the meanwhile, we warned the housesitter not to enter through the garage late at night!

Other than that, packed and out by 11, as planned. The adventure begins!
