    Preparing for the journey

A travel blog entry by holyfamilyyouth on Jul 11, 2015

Today is our last day of preparation before we head out to Cincinnati for our high school summer mission trip with the Franciscans for the poor. The adult leaders have already picked up the rental vans and have been driving them around to get used to the new vehicles. Two mini vans for Andy and Joe and I get the shiny new SUV. Tonight most of our group will be ...

Today was another lazy morning- we needed it. The girls did their nails (thanks Jamberry). The kids played more board games (and we found out they thought board games were only for when you're bored). In case you were wondering, Caitlyn won the game of Life, primarily because she landed on the "lawsuit" space and collected $100,000 from Jonathan 6 times!! ... A river ran right through town and they had river boat tours.

The most amazing part of our short stay (only 1 night) was visiting the World's Largest Christmas Store. Believe me when I say it's the largest I really mean it. It had so much stuff inside I didn't even buy a thing which for me is a miracle. There was just too much to look at. So I just looked while Jim took pictures, lots and lots of pictures. It ...

... our way to Saginaw, we discovered a 1 1/2" scale railroad called the Junction Valley Railroad. They bill themselves as the largest 1 1/2" scale railroad in the country, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't come close to Train Mountain. In fact, when we stopped in, I asked them if they were familiar with Train Mountain and they said no, so that tells me they don't pay much attention to what is going on in the ...
