          Omaha zoo

A travel blog entry by jason934 on Sep 30, 2015

The goal of visiting Omaha was going to the supposed best zoo in the world. We arrived there at 10:30am and left at 4:15pm, shortly before they closed at 5pm. It's great having the GPS to navigate us around, and we had no issues getting there or back to the hotel. Firstly I think the zoo could be in the running for the best in the world, once their extensive construction is complete. There was a lot of construction, which really distracted from the experience. Also the zoo ...

We had to get up early for our flights to Omaha. We started walking to the train station at 7:15am and caught the train that stopped right at Reagan National airport. The train conductor was very helpful, providing clear guidance about the next stop. Walking through to the Southwest terminal at the airport Sam had an unfortunate fall due to loss of balance caused by her blocked ear. Fortunately no harm done this time, unlike her ...

Gotta say a big THANK YOU to Cameron for lending me his 2 walkie talkies. They've been an easy way to communicate while we're driving. Can't imagine not having them along for the ride.

Let's Not Go Through Tornado Alley

One of my fears is getting caught in a tornado, which is odd considering we don't get many of them in Canada. So, with weather high on the list of things to watch for, we started looking at our options for travelling west. All of the weather websites and apps were calling for thunderstorms on pretty much every route we looked at, so we decided to just go with our original plan of Des Moines, Iowa. There were no rain clouds in ...

          Elkhorn Neighbors Rally for Sid

Holiday cheer and campaign excitement were in abundance at a beautiful event supporting Sid's campaign sponsored by Steve and Lynette Nabity, his neighbors in Elkhorn.

It was standing room only in the Nabity home as neighbors rallied to support one of their own in his bid for the U.S. Senate. The Nabitys were joined by 10 other couples in co-hosting the event.

          Crowd ...
