... drove by the lovely Catskill park, walked in the little town of Hudson where we ate a hamburger in a very American style diner, aluminium counter and little stools.
He took me to the Olana state historic site, the house and estate of a famous landscape painter, Frederick Church, I downloaded one picture (of course not allowed to take pictures), and I accompanied him to an auction, I love to see the auctioneer going fast and hitting the hammer!
... good service, very nice man, looks like a nice marina in case anyone is in the area! Troy Federal Lock was the only one without hanging ropes, we had to loop our lines around a pipe instead. After the last lock we hit tidal waters.... time to pay attention and plan our runs accordingly from now on. The grocery store is a short walk, and so is the public library with free internet and air conditioning in this 100F heat.
