Visiting our friends Dionne, Andy and Squirt has been the highlight of our trip. We headed south out of St. Louis on the I-44 before getting off and exploring some rural routes in the Ozarks.

The rain was persistent and visibility was limited but the drive was still beautiful.

As we got closer the GPS took us off the rural route and onto some smaller roads. I ...

Most of it has been wondrously amazing and filled with a spirit that transcends miles above what I could ever accomplish. The lines on that beloved map are also getting just a bit shorter every day. As we set off, we kept and eye on the ...

... We decided to stop for some dinner at a Route 66 diner in a place called st. Roberts (MO). It was a fifties diner and the food was amazing. The portions were spectacular too! Along the way we kept seeing a chain of fuel stations called Kum & Go. I kept s******ing. We arrived at the hotel in Springfield quite late and were ready for bed. It was more of a Motel than the usual Best Westerns you see. We went to bed and slept hard!! What a fun, full ...

Up bright and early and off into St Louis - the City sits under the huge and very impressive 630 ft Gateway Arch which rises up from the banks of the Mississippi River and it symbolises the westward expansion of the United States. It is also the home of Budweiser and the anheuser Busch brewery who are also the main sponsors of the 'Cardinals' St Louis famous baseball team. We were very chuffed with ourselves as we navigated our way in without maps or sat nav although this time ...
