Welcome to Kansas! I think this is my 16th stop so far, and will be brief one on the way to Denver tomorrow! With a nine-hour drive ahead of us, Zach and I woke up early in Houston and packed up our stuff. Our stay with my high school classmate, Tacy, and her boyfriend, Dom, was amazing and they made it very difficult to want to leave. To top it all off, we headed to Minute Maid Park and Dom treated us to a couple of ...

... Route 66, the Mother Road. The road was narrow and VERY rough. We are thankful that we don't have to drive on this quality of road on the rest of our trip...it would surely slow our speed down tremendously! At the end of this short Historic Route 66 Byway, we came to the small town of Galena, Kansas. There were many buildings left that were thriving in the hay day of the popularity of Route 66. There were lots of cars parked in various places that ...

... repast at an ice cream shop. And then we headed into the worst wind that we had had in 7 days. The farmland has been flooded by the rains and many of the crops will be lost this year. Sad since the last 5 years have been a draught. We move ...
