      ... couple of road signs that said 'Thickly Settled', which I was mystified by (are they talking about my waistline?) It turns out that it means densely populated and you must not drive more than 30 mph. Who knew?

      The end of the day brought us to Mystic, CT. We walked around a bit as the sun was going down, catching some beautiful light and chatting with a road-tripping couple from Seattle. They have a motorhome and are spending a year on the road. I'm envious.

      ... by Quakers and Baptists and has a very New England feel to it. Most of the houses are wooden framed clapperboard and shingle houses although there are some spectacular mansions along the cliffs bordering Easton Bay which came into view as we walked the impressive coastal path. The centre of the town is quite attractive especially the port area with many quaint shops along the old wharves. There is also a lovely church in the centre called Trinity Church ...

      ... and went home where Lynnie prepared dinner with the fresh cod which Bill had brought us last eve. She used the bleu cheese recipe that we enjoy so well. Bill joined us later for dinner. We had a great visit about old and new and made plans for our trip to another lighthouse in Rhode Island. We'll go there tomorrow morning.
