      We know today's going to be tough as we've still got over 300 miles to go and after yesterday's heat we think it may be tough! However, once we got going the 66 was largely in tact here and we were able to get through the miles with no problem... Not much of the old places to see in California but the actual scenery is great so it was lovely. The temperatures have dropped now we are through the canyons and we are starting to see ...

      ... to the Cajon Summit. From the top, the Interstate plunged down towards San Bernardino in one long sweeping anti-clockwise loop down the valley of the original course of the road to L.A. from the east. There are several railroad tracks this side of the pass as the railroad traffic is enormous. The tracks take a much longer course naturally and we could see trains queuing to climb the pass from miles away.
