Apologies for the lack of text, today was just too exhausting to do much when we got back other than sleep! Jet lag and 10 hours of walking did not help, but a fabulous day spent in Berlin central area checked out the sights and where we want to be NYE, the stage and setup at the Brandenburg Gate is just huge and the Tier Garten looks spectacular in the snow. Tomorrow the wall, markets, check point charlie, and a couple of other sites. I can see how people fall ...

(I did say 'memorable parts', not the 'best parts'. They had to close the facility down when they found the water towers amplified the sounds and all the locals could hear. Gruesome! - ...

The final day! Another 31km and supposedly 7.5hrs of walking and we would reach the North Sea and have 190 miles or 309 km between us and the Irish Sea at St Bee's. We had all agreed that we needed to finish as we had begun, as Team Walking Undead. The Badger's legs weren't going to last and I wasn't too sure about Two Dogs (aka Red aka Geoff) either. We decided to set off as usual, albeit a little later at 0930hrs after a wander through the garden and farmyard at Red House Farm. ...

This city is enormous. Each street corner and building seems to have a story to tell. The older generation are well presented and walk around with these 'proud' looks on their faces. The young present the 'alternative' style with tattoos, piercings and half shaved heads (women included). They wear grungy clothes and project a 'lazy' attitude to their daily routine. I purchased a 'steam punk' watch from the Mauer market the other ...

      Farewell to Germany

Sadly, we took our leave today of Germany having enjoyed every aspect of our tour. We all feel as though we have a much better appreciation of the country, its culture and history. Our trip to the airport and the car rental return went smoothly and we arrived at our gate with about an hour and a half before departure. Shane got one last pretzel making his final count 5 pretzels and 3 schnitzels. A worthy accomplishment. Our flight to Amsterdam was a quick one and we had ...
