Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe bibi66We made it, Victoria Falls, and feeling very much like Livingston (the first white to see the falls) must have, i e tired and grubby, went looking for accommodation. With no booking this proved a little difficult but were told at the Sprayview Hotel we could have a room with twin beds. Heather pulled a look somewhere between an appeal and I'm going to dissect you, and common sense prevailed, we were provided with a double. Great except the door does not lock!! Too bad !!. A much needed shower...
Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe heatheravan... on earth -- it continued to pour for about 5 hours. I swear Namibia must have gotten it's entire annual rainfall that night!

On Friday, Oct. 16, we drove on through Etosha to yet another campsite, which was quite posh, with shops and a restaurant in a reconstruction of a German fort that used to be there. On our afternoon game drive, in additional to the usual giraffes, zebras, springbok, etc., we saw dik-diks ...

Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe aimee_in_africa... was an optional extra to do a game drive and camp out at the national park but only 4 people did as we have already seen so much at this stage and it doesn't make sense to pay for more of the same thing. We did have a boat cruise through the park included as part of our tour the following day. 4 people did the drive anyway and the rest of us chilled out at the campsite that night. We were a bit worried though as the campsite was right on a river and the protective fence was in ...
Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe alandrach... were selling all these curios, what they really wanted was the clothes off your back rather than money. I wish we’d known this coz we could have played the trading game so much better. They were also trying to sell their own currency to us which consisted of notes of ten trillion dollars. No joke. The economy is in really good nick. Stef made lots of local friends here including the lovely George IV. We met up with our group on our first night here and ...
Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe carolineandstef... things from him the whole time. We did not buy anything from him. As we started to walk away he said "If you don't buy anything from me, I am going to tell the police you tresspassed into Zimbabwe." We ignored him and walked away. After about 5 meters, we all turned to eachother in complete horror, realizing that the fence we snuck under was actually a border. And we did in fact tresspass into Zimbabwe. We got really scared and decided to try and walk out the way ...
Livingstone, Zambia kickthrough... Mma Ramotswe from the lady detctive company lived there, and I knew it was a relatively stable african country in recent years.

First stop was Maun which is the base spot for trips into the Okavangu Delta. This delta is the biggest in the world and it is a truly magical experience going bush camping for the night being taken in big dug out canoes pushed along my highly skilled 'polers'…. Picture african style venice gondolas. We (the guests ...
Livingstone, Southern, Zambia shonamary... the raft and met a couple of Australian guys and an American girl who were assigned to our raft. I attached the camera to a strap of the life vest and tucked it under the bottom buckle, a perfect setup to secure it. I was so glad to have my waterproof camera for this day, as I had bought it specifically for shooting photos during shark diving and Zambezi rafting.

The names of the rapids were great: The Mother, Overland Truck Eater, Terminator ...
Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe mebiner... most of us are still wet and we’re not looking too sharp! However, we get great service and the food is absolutely lovely.
After lunch we head over to the tourist market, accompanied by the tourist police. It’s an amazing place but really sad at the same time. There are so many wonderful things to buy, but the sellers are just so desperate that they crowd us and don’t leave us alone which makes ...
