... here, Guiyang at 6pm, for a taxi driver to then take us round the block (and about 2 doors away from the bus station we got off at!) to our hotel for 10yuan, nevermind.
The hotel is clean, with aircon and a soft bed (3 things that your lucky to get in a chinese hotel) the bathroom is completely covered in plastic. It is literally a porta-loo cabin complete with sink, bath and step in shower, just placed in the corner of the ...
... and a little old, a typical Chineese place. Nobody speaks English and all the signs are in Chineese(which is their second language, after the Miao language), anyway: we manage.
Today at 9 Billy came and took us to thr CITS office, gave us good information. We go at 12:30 to a Miao village, Xijiang, where we'll spend the night. Tomorrow we'll return' pick the luggage and continue to the south.

I don't know how people on tour do it because it's really tiring, last night people were trying to get us to come out and get food with them after the gig (this one guy was from HK, but had spent some time in Ireland so had the coolest Irish accent ever!) but we were all too exhausted and maybe a little burnt out (speaking for myself) so we just came back to the hotel...and went to sleep...we haven't been to bed before 1 ...
... spooky. Helen, our guide, was obviously quite bemused at this unusual stopover and sent a pic' to her boss of the Crazy Cables!
More mountains and another, even longer and taller suspension bridge under completion. Later we stopped for lunch. We were glad that Helen didn't take us to the restaurant next to us as it served dog! We are in the Guizhou Province where dog is the provincial delicacy. We leave this province tomorrow, so the dogs are safe for now!

Guiyang, Guizhou, China happysheepAh, the balminess of Hong Kong. Short sleeves! Sunshine! So wonderful. And so short lived! On Christmas day, after our morning Dim sum, we hopped a quick flight from Hong Kong to the capital city of the province where Beth and Dan live, Guiyang. A nice man on the plane told me, in English, as we were disembarking, "You need coat. Colder here." he was right! it was so cold in Guiyang, like Brussels cold! everyone said it was unusually cold. Lucky me! We ventured out ...

Shimenkan, China cncp... is no a legitimate "village" called Liushu (Willow Village) though local people still refer to it as the "Leper Village". There are 13 patients still living in Liushu and 63 of their relatives-still stigmatized by old Chinese tradition. Though this is the second leper house, built over 50years ago, patients and their families still reside here. In 2005, money was donated to build a third addition. New "dormitories" or "apartments" for the leprosy patients ...

Shimenkan, China cncp... of a turkey. Which is fine with me, I don't actually like turkey all that much. Some other volunteers in a big city, Chongqing, decided to get a turkey for their dinner. The cooked turkey came from Holiday Inn, which is an extremely fancy hotel here, for 1,000 Chinese yuan, about $125 U.S. This is also only a little less than we get paid in a month. So I definitely didn't see the turkey as worth it, and I was perfectly ...
