... we went up to a bar for a beer after another day on the beach. As usual, we picked up some rubbish as we went. This time an embarrassed looking local handed over a bottle top to add to our collection. Maybe Jo's idea of providing a positive model for the other beach goers is getting some traction?? The Santa Maria festival rolls on. This evening is a parade of horse and carriages, all lavishly decorated. The tradition is that the drivers sing but ...

... street, the signs gave out. Dead reckoning and swearing eventually led us back on track more than a few times. Not sure if it is easier to steer or to navigate but we were both a bit frazzled by the time we got to Cefalu and found a park. Mind you, we had to stop at one point so that Bronte could get out and spew. Perhaps its no picnic in the back, either. Cefalu is a tourist town. Its old centre is beautifully ...

... and pasta with an eggplant sauce. Mains of pork sausages, veal roast and potatoes, with dessert of fresh fruit and cannoli. No dinner for us at night!
After lunch we drove back to Palermo port to board the ferry for Naples. Cabins were quite nice albeit small. We were the last couple with one other to get our key. But when we got it, it didn't match with our ticket, but the man said it was ok. He was ...

... stewed sweet and sour with fennel. As we left, we saw a giant artichoke in the town square, and even saw some growing in a field. We've had two excellent dinners at Casale Drinzi including pizza, pasta, and wild boar stew complete with complimentary digestifs and local spiced fig nut biscuits called cuccidati. Tomorrow we head to the south ...
