... recommended hike but heavy rain overnight and heavy skies as I head down for breakfast are a little off-putting. But I intend doing my thirteenth hike irrespective so it looks very much like another slog in the rain.
I catch a train in heavy rain from Gstaad for the 30 minute trip to Zweisimmen (948 m) then a gondola lift up to Rinderberg (2,011 m) for the start of the relatively short two hour hike ...
... favours! - so we cut back up to the Murren station, which wasn't far. This turned out to be extremely lucky.... We had arrived at the wrong time of the day and everyone was starting to head down off the mountain - providing stupidly long queues for the cable car.... We decided to walk back down to Gimmelwald and hoped that we could shortcut the queue and also enjoy some of the countryside - as long as our legs would still work.

... which we got to by cable car. From here we had views to the lakes below and mountains beyond and enjoyed a nice lunch with a goodly amount of vegetables - something we have been missing so much. We also took a bus trip part way around one of the lakes to enjoy the beautiful scenery. Gardens everywhere are looking lovely, roses and spring flowers - and lots of beautiful peonies which make me think of ...
... surrounding us. The road and the train line run parallel to each other and are right on the edge of the Lake. What an incredible sight to see each day. I wonder if those who live here realise how beautiful it is.
It was very easy to find our accommodation for the night. We are staying at Manor Farm campground in a great cabin, very comfortable and well equipped. There are homes just next to us separated by a hedge and Lake Thun is only metres ...
... in a Pakistani/Indian restaurant (which country are we in again?? But we were over the cheese, pork, veal and potato which make up many traditional Swiss meals!)
Tomorrow is a long travel day of close to eight hours where we take a train from Interlaken to Karlsruhe in Germany and then on to Munich. We have one evening in Munich (the second time we've been there on this trip) before we pack our bags ready to fly to Dubai!
