    ... later, following a beer at a restaurant built into the original wall surrounding the city, we said goodbye. Pretty good value for an hour’s payment. The Czech restaurant owner asked where we were from and asked us if we liked Albury-Wadonga and Dubbo (we told him that nobody in Australia did). Apparently he has been to Australia 3 times and visited some pretty unusual places!

    Another day in the bus travelling to the Czech Repbulic. We went the long way due to roadworks, leaving at 8am & arriving at nearly 8pm! We stopped at a couple of small towns on the way, which was very nice. Cesky Krumlov is a really beautiful small town & we will get the chance to explore it more ...

    ... and with little effort our bags were deposited with ease into the bus, equally when we arrived they again carried them down for us. And so we were in Cesky Krumlov and how beautiful it is as the photos testify. Once more Louise had made a wonderful call with the Hotel Dvorak, the windows of our room looked directly to the castle and the river ran beside its wall. The location could not have been better we were in the midst of the old town even if there were to be small glitches ...

    ... by the second largest castle in the country.

    Besides being old, what makes the town and castle unique is that almost everything is original and the exterior of the buildings still retain their frescoes and graffito (designs created by using different textures of plaster). In addition, the castle was occupied continuously from its first construction until 1948 and, as a result, is completely intact.

    Last day here and have a sock crisis. So have resolved to find where the normal residents shop. GPS reveals an Aldi and a circuitous route. The reason becomes clear; provision for pedestrians is sometimes forgotten; you have to follow the wear trails across verges and car parks to find where locals walk.
