... mountains across the border in Italy. Katarina was from Tirano (just over the border) so spoke Italian as her first language and some English. They were preparing a special meal for us so we had a bit of time to relax on the balcony and take in the view. Between some German, Italian and English we could make fun conversation over dinner. To their mutual delight Keith and Corrado could share an interest in rally driving. He brought out his photo album of ...

He mentioned Merano, it sort of sunk in, he said it was the friendliest place to live in Italy.
Now as luck would have it, I'd decided to ride to Senales, where I was heading was in that region although I didn't really know that at the time, and it turns out he was very right.

... evening we wandered through town and went to TripAdvisors #1 restaurant in Tirano, Contadi Gasparotti. It was amazing! A set menu of 6 dishes for only €15. A lovely balmy night (one of the only nights we haven't been in pants and ...

... cars, motorcycles, bicycles and people everywhere. The coffee shops were doing a roaring trade. Whilst at the summit, which is at 2980m we decided to take a ride up the two cable cars on to the glacier for a look where people were doing some summer skiing. The drive back down was almost as hairy as the way up, though the traffic was much lighter now. We got the Bambina back in one piece after a most enjoyable drive. Another tick off the bucket list for JK.
