      After leaving Venice, we hopped on a train which took us to Innsbruck, Austria. This is in the Tirol area in the south western part of Austria. We stayed the night in Innsbruck, and made our way out to Kaunertal the next morning. Innsbruck was the first place that we were able to catch a glimpse of the Alps!       Of course what makes it even worse is that with the tourist season now over the local boy racers see this grand road as a race track and so play in their done up tin can cars up and down this pass having races which makes it extremely dangerous.

      ... we went higher and higher on the worlds slowest express train. The steep, slow, winding track affords so many vistas that we were running from side to side of the train, gasping at every turn and bend. Luckily our carriage was nearly empty so we and a few others could do this.

      ... We went to the information center as soon as we reached the town of Zernez. This is where the park begins. We talked about an alpine hike and where we might get a sandwich to take with us.
