... away the bad spirits of winter. We walked around town and enjoyed the music while drinking beer on the street! Then we went to the Mozartplatz area where we enjoyed some spiced wine next to a bon fire in the middle of the city under the stars - it was very romantic and one of the highlights for me! We then hit an amazing authentic Austrian restaurant - Gasthaus Zettler's for lots of different kinds of meat and sides. We had a few drinks ...

... the 'land of the salt'. So for our first Austrian adventure we decided to conquer the Salzburg's fortress, the largest fortress in Central Europe and yet to be defeated. The views from the castle looked over the old city and were absolutely stunning although it has to be said it was sehr kalt. Di, you 'll be pleased to know that Rachel has now worn her buff! Again, we both got really hungry ( tends to be a bit of a trend for us) and ending up eating in this weird medieval restaurant ...

... now houses the major as well as municipal council and there was a couple about to be married in the room that is regarded as " the most beautiful wedding hall in the world". The staircase is made of marble and is quite breathtaking. I also walked around the gardens which were quite beautiful even though everything was covered in snow. Must look really nice in summer.
I then crossed a bridge to get to the old ...
