A boat trip on a beautiful lake

We have just come back from a lovely trip up to Lake Konigssee, and a boat trip down the lake to St Bartholoma. The lake is nestled between the mountains, and is 602m above sea level with an average depth of 150m. It is the cleanest lake in Germany, with the water being pure enough to be classified ...

... an origami mask yesterday for the masquerade party and today I made a cute kitty costume out of polkadot duckling tape. It went better than I thought. I watched way too much art attack as a kid and now I'm using it for adult purposes. The Austrian Alps are just like the Swiss Alps. It seemed to be mainly domestic visitors and all exhibitions were mostly only in German. They luckily have an ...

After packing this morning we popped out for breakfast before heading off to Kufstein in Austria The road wound through some spectacular alpine country, passing by Zugspitz, Germany's highest mountain. Every holiday maker seemed to be taking to the road as many RV's and caravans passed us going in the opposite direction. Many motor bike riders were out for a ride as well. The road eventually flattened out onto the autobahn where ...

          And the cows came home...

Literally. The past few weekends all the cows and goats are being brought down from the high pastures where they have been grazing for the summer. It's a pretty big deal in the villages - called Almabtried - and the usually Saturday market is ramped up to include traditional music, crafts, and an extra selection of beer, schnapps, sausage, cheese and bread (can you hear my gut gurgle!). The best thing is how the cows are celebrated - totally decked out with elaborate flowers, ...
