Come back to hotel about 1300 and started to pack suit cases and get things organized for our journey up to visit Ricarda in Greifswald. Had a afternoon nap. Went down to bar at 1800 and caught up with Narelle n Gerrard from Darwin. Had tea with them in hotel and went back to their room until midnight. Great night ...

(The High Alpine Road with Mountains and Glaciers)

Today we drove the Grossglockner high alpine road, which goes through the Hohe Tauern national park. The road is named for the Grossglockner mountain, the highest in Austria at 3798 meters. The road is 48 km long with 36 hairpin turns, and ascends up and over a pass in the Alps called the Hochtor (high gate) at 2504 km. The Hochtor is also the border between the Austrian states of Salzburg and Carinthia.
