Furstenweg 183 Innsbruck, Tirol, Austrian Alps, Austria, 6020, 512-22514
... we had finished at the zoo, the sun was trying to come out and the snow had completely melted off the trees.

We caught the bus into the old city where I was determined that I was going to have some genuine Sacher torte so went to Cafe Sacher which is home of the original Sacher torte (it originated in Vienna). Sacher Torte is actually chocolate cake with a layer of jam in the middle ...
Innsbruck, Austrian Alps, Austria kiama_on_tour... It was Emperor Maximilian I who added the "logia" over an oriel window and covered it with 2657 fine gilt copper tiles. It was when you went into the museum that you got more of an idea of what you were seeing on the outside. There was an English audio guide which gave lots of information (too much for the kids) on what was the late middle ages and also Maximilian and I found it quite interesting. For example, under the judicial system of that ...
Innsbruck, Austrian Alps, Austria kiama_on_tour... a large room and then walked into the old town to have dinner at a restaurant that had Austrian food. The prices seem quite reasonable after Switzerland, but that might be because they are in Euros. I had a goulash which was quite nice but salty. Again German is the language used but most people speak English so we haven't had any problems. It was very cold as we walked home and Tara kept saying, I hope it snows tomorrow (it certainly felt cold enough).
Innsbruck, Austrian Alps, Austria kiama_on_tour... too.
The rest of the tour took us to Linderhof castle and Neuschwanstein castle. What magical looking places they were. Neuschwanstein is the castle Walt Disney uses the sillohette of at the start of his movies. Anyway, after the trip it was back to Munich for a day or so and then on the plane home.
Oberammergau, Bavaria, Germany danandroz... to lay low for the night and watch a movie at our hotel. So it was an easy night. We got up in the morning and both needed desperatly to do laundry so we did and then had to part ways. Now I am just waiting for my night train to Rome to meet up with my mom :) I really enjoyed Innsbruck and Austria, it was nice to have a friend to travel with. SO next time I will be in Italy, I hope all is well with you all back home....
Innsbruck, Austrian Alps, Austria indigosb... a lovely park for the girls to play in, and a band from Denmark was playing in the bandstand. A very enjoyable afternoon! As Millie is getting better day by day, we've tried to do as little as possible, but at the same time get a feel for this area. If anyone ever gets a chance to come to this part of the world, if it's relaxation you are looking for, then the Tyrol in Austria is the place. The area is so clean, the pace is slow, and there are plenty of places to ...
Innsbruck, Austrian Alps, Austria goughfamilyinpa... bizarre. In the Jim Whiting Mechanical Theatre clothes, mannequins and various domestic items danced, fell apart and re-formed in time to a disco beat. Other rooms were equally strange. In Reflections, described in the brochure as "a kaleidoscope of sound and colour" I was warned that I would be "caught up in a whirlpool of knowledge". Bollocks, I thought crudely. As expected I emerged from that room as ignorant as I had been when I entered it. The entire tour took ...
Innsbruck, Austrian Alps, Austria cullism... Austrian tour but we actually didn't know where we were staying or even which cities we were visiting until the night before. We were frantically searching for hostels at 9pm and our train to somewhere (we hadn't planned this out yet) left at 7am. Our city choices were decided solely on hostel availability and the lucky city winners were Innsbruck and Neukirche. Innsbruck is a ski town. It hosted the Winter Olympics a couple of times and it is ...
Innsbruck, Austria whitea... Christmas markets started opening at lunchtime and street started filling. Lots of tour groups are around. Reconnected with Ash at lunchtime. Checked if Mandy was on Skype or had e-mailed without luck again. Then back into town for lunch and more wandering. Lots of street theatre and puppet decorations on balconies. Chinese for tea again and then a walk through the night markets and ice skating with Ashley.
Innsbruck, Austrian Alps, Austria gregd999Another work conference for my parents brought us to Oberammergau for a week. We stayed in the cutest little wooden cottage - like the whole thing ceiling to floor and including flowering window boxes was made out of wood! Totally picturesque like you've read about in Brothers Grimm fairy tales. Aromatic town bakery. Absolutely enchanting.
