          The Grossglockner Road

          ... was also an old hut that the workers that built the road had lived in and a memorial to those that had died during the construction. The tunnel at the top had icicles in it from water that had been dripping. At 5.00 pm it was 1.5C.

          We stayed the night just at the bottom of the road in a car park as it was starting to get dark.

          ... now almost 2pm and i had been up here a good few hours, if I wanted to get
          any miles on my bike today then i better get moving.

          the cable car and soon off we go back to ground level. However, while descending
          from the mountain we all noticed something rather extraordinary. Now i know
          most people tell me that i do crazy things and that I am extremely mad at times
          but after what we saw going down in this cable car then no one can ever call me

          ... usual its a mighty long drag around what seems every street in the town. Never in my life have I ever known a town with such a awkward street system. My home town of Edinburgh is one of the worst for tourists but this must beat that.
          Finally through the mad streets and there on my right is what looks like a good hotel and so i think lets just go stay there!!
          Sadly this grand hotel was closed and so by now I had it in my head I was staying in Cortina.
