    ... I realised that the station names were painted on the tiny station buildings, but as the train was very long and my carriage was towards the back, I could only see the name as we left the station! Luckily, as we got closer to the Lake, the signage got better and with the use of my iphone GPS I managed to get off at the correct stop, phew!

    I thought it was handy that my guesthouse was only 5 minutes walk from the train station, but ...

    ... and was still taking down the little houses that they use to hold the festivals in. When we got back to the dorms we were all exhausted and went straight to bed as it was already 11:30 p.m. and we had an early wake up at 6:00 a.m. to prepare to leave for Baltonfured, which is the town that the camp is in at Lake Balaton. Goodnight for now all you Californians as now I am a Hungarian missionary! Love to all, ...

    I planned to travel on my own after Sarah went back to the UK but I found myself always in fantastic company. Be it couch surfing, people I met on the road or buddies from back home I realise the world is smaller than you think.....

    ... camped up on her bed watching Winnie the Pooh (ok it was Harry). Then in reverse we would have great barbie fests as there were many girls who were willing to come and let Leah be the lady she is with her pink army!! It constantly amazes me how well kids get along and for such prolonged periods without any English, one of my favourite memories would be watching Leah and her friend play barbies in English and Hungarian, beautifully amazing!!

    ... of Hungary. The trip probably would have taken a third of the time if Hungary ever bothered to run a crescent-shaped road along the southern border. It was also probably the number-one reason I ended up renting a car instead of taking the trains. Every train trip I looked at ran back to Budapest to connect and ended up being a 6-hour train ride vs a 2-hour drive.
