First day in Paris we decide to line up for the Eiffel Tower, and one hour later we're at the summit! The 360 degree views of Paris are fabulous - bit overcast but visibility was good almost to the horizon. We got a great feel for the sheer scale of the city and it's landmarks. We were rugged up as it was quite chilly and windy - John got the sniffles (very serious man flu), but we made it down safe in just over two hours. We caught the big red bus from the Champs de Mars ...

Finally we got up there, and had learned on the way that the top was closed (although I'm not entirely sure that was true as the lifts were going up and down and people were queuing for them). However the view from the middle deck was fantastic and we'd all had enough of queuing, so we walked down all the stairs (didn't count but definitely more than 250 of them). Then it was ice creams and off to catch a boat for a Seine river tour.

Keeping with our plan to combine some "culture" with kid-friendly activities, we started out for Jardin du Luxembourg, which was recommended as a great park to visit. It truly was an awesome park. We saw people practicing tai-chi, yoga, self-defence, fencing as well as hundreds of runners. The actual kids' park required a small fee but was well worth the price with lots of play apparatus that we don't have in Canada. ...

... the veal and it was perfect, Kaelyn had a salad and wasn't sure what kind of meat would appear (she was just hoping it wasn't duck...turned out to be tuna), Alyssa had a shrimp cocktail that turned into baby shrimp over sliced avocado, tomatoes and an odd orange dressing and mom ordered a steak that turned out to be seasoned raw beef. Everyone but Alyssa enjoyed their meals (even Mom with her raw beef), so Alyssa got an extra order of ...

... to a tourture museum and it was so gruesome and not for Myles and max I felt sick there was some really Gross and inappropriate stuff. We climbed up a tower. There used to be 72 huge towers and now there's only 14. We got to the top and we were rewarded with an amazing view. We drove home spent more time with Santiago but then a person told us his real name is Jango. It was a great and yummy day.
