... the Gare du Nord station in Paris after a 3-hour journey. Following the obligatory, hair-raising taxi ride through congested Paris streets, we arrived at our rental apartment on rue Cortambert in the 16th-arrondissement (district), where we were greeted by a gracious and friendly relative of the owners.

It's still pouring with rain & we are glad the boat is covered in, clear so you can see out. We try out the audio guide but it's not very good & we crane our necks to make out the landmarks & statues on the bridges. It has stopped raining & the sun is out so we sit on the top as the boat cruises under 22 bridges ...

... Now beautiful park with hills, a lake etc etc. it was heaving and we were just happy to lie in huge sun and relax. Home to make a dip for picnic tomorrow and pastry for a tart. We were meeting Marg and Rob for dinner at Clamato. This is a tapas wine bar owned by the same people who own Septime and Tim's daughter Caroline works there. It was a good option as they don't take bookings and because I hadn't booked anything and being Saturday night very difficult to get in anywhere. ...
